Alabama actually has a law that allows for lawyers to be appointed to represent fetuses. They pretend to be interested in life and seeing that fetuses don’t suffer pain.
But of course, once that fetus gets outside the womb, the State of Alabama is fine with the child starving, not having a place to live, or, should they find themselves in legal trouble, having to pay for court costs, tracking devices, public defenders, and even jail costs.
It is outrageous and really nothing more than a ploy to try to stop a young woman from being able to have an abortion before it is “too late.”
It might not be so repulsive if the conservative powers in the state actually did something to help the quality of life for actual people that have been born. But once you’re born, you much pull yourself up by the bootstraps and take care of yourself.
